The work 'GUN AND ROSES OIL' was exhibited for the first time in 2011 in the '0 GMS' gallery, located in a kitchen drawer at the Contemporary art institute, Sofia. The main idea departs from the unique interaction of a tender scent of roses and the metallic smell of the gunpowder. The rose oil mixed with a touch of explosive compound transforms the objects. It fulfils and completes them, thus changing their function. Тhe bullets and shells of an AK 47, turned into 'vials' with distorted shapes. Mariela Gemisheva was born in Kazanlak, and currently lives and works in Sofia. She has graduated the Academy of arts, architecture and design in Prague. She has been a member of the Bulgarian artist union since 1995 and a member of the Contemporary art institute, Sofia since 2000. She is a doctor of Fine art and art sciences in the National art academy, where she holds lectures in Fashion Design. Mariela Gemisheva is a two time Golden Needle award winner in the categories of avant-garde and experimental fashion, in 1996 and in 1998 . The awards are organized by the Bulgarian fashion academy. She has "Designer of the Year" (2017) by the Bulgarian fashion academy, "Woman of the Year (2008) by Gracia magazine in the category of "Fashion" and the contemporary art award "Shortlist 2008" (GAUDENZ RUF AWARD).
